DSL TESTING

Nemko Comlab engineers have many years of experience in working with DSL. We collaborate closely with the main operators in Norway to ensure proper understanding of the evaluation of xDSL equipment behaviour. We are always well informed on the latest developments in ETSI og ITU.

Nemko Comlab offers testing of electrical parameters according to the newest interface specifications from Telenor:

  • A81: Specification for the network side of the user-network interface: ADSL modem (ATU-R)
  • A82: Specification for the network side of the user-network interface: Remote splitter (PSTN/ISDN basic access)
  • A83: Specification for the network side of the user-network interface: SHDSL modem (STU-R)
  • A84: Specification for the network side of the user-network interface: Distributed filter (PSTN)

The interface specifications are based on specifications from ETSI and ITU and contain additional requirements from Telenor. Electrical and functional specifications for the ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2plus refers to ITU-T Rec. G.992.1, G.992.3, G.992.5 Annex B, modified in ETSI TS 101 388. The interface specifications from Telenor can be downloaded from www.jara.no.

Additionally, Telenor has issued specifications for equipment owned by network operators and intended for connection to the local loop in the access network of Telenor. These specifications are called OA specifications (Operator Access) and are also available at www.jara.no.

The web pages at www.jara.no are updated regularly, please contact Nemko Comlab if you have trouble finding the documents there.

Currently these DSLAMs are installed at Nemko Comlab for interoperability testing:

          Alcatel ASAM 1000 SD
          Alcatel ASAM 7300 HD
          Alcatel ASAM 7300 UD
          Alcatel ISAM 7302
          Nokia D50
          Nokia D500

This is the same set of DSLAMs that are used by Telenor in the access network in Norway, and with the same software versions. The DSLAMs are equipped with ADSL, ADSL2, ADSL2plus and SHDSL line interface cards.

The ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2plus line interface cards are configured for operating in conjunction with ISDN according to the ITU-T G.992.1, G.992.3 and G.992.5 Annex B and ETSI TS 101 388.

Nemko Comlab performs range testing according to the Telenor specifications using ETSI and ITU noise models.

Nemko Comlab is a member of the DSL Forum and follows their work with great attention..

Nemko Comlab is currently upgrading the xDSL test facilities to include the latest ETSI and DSL Forum standards.
